The Best Walking Trails in Nashville
Middle Tennessee has the most beautiful terrain - from rolling hills and mountains to lakes and greenery, there is a gorgeous view almost everywhere you go. That being said, getting outside is the best activity in the Greater Nashville area. Within the majority of metropolitan areas, you won’t find long, beautiful and luxurious walking trails and hikes, but Nashville is different. Here are a few I love..
My third favorite walking trail in Nashville is Shelby Park in East Nashville. Here, you’ll see loads of bikers (as it connects to the Music City bike trail), families and dogs, and sports activities (think tiny, adorable humans playing soccer). There’s multiple trails around the actual park, through the trees, and along the Cumberland River. You can even take a trail from the park to downtown. It’s surprisingly close than you’d think. Shelby is a great place for a long run, as you can start surrounded by nature and end on Broadway. You’ll never get bored.
My second favorite trail is Percy Warner Park. It’s nestled in the high-end neighborhoods of Belle Meade and has everything from a golf course to mountainous, legit ‘hikes’. There are always loads of friendly walkers and joggers, and the terrain is gorgeous, whether it’s green and lush in the summer or dark and moody in the winter. You’ll see beautiful views and forget you’re even near a city.
My absolute favorite walking trail and maybe favorite overall spot in Nashville is Radnor Lake State Park. If you can get past the frustration of finding a parking spot, you will be so pleasantly surprised. Passing Oak Hill and Green Hills mansions as you drive in, you’ll never believe there is a protected state park that includes a beautiful lake and the highest elevations in Nashville. You’ll see turkeys, deer, and maybe even an eagle as you walk both the paved and unpaved trails throughout the park. People come to Radnor to hike, photograph, propose, all the things…
You can’t go wrong with any of these trails in Nashville, so add them to your list. Happy hiking :)
